(VOVWORLD) - Two flights from Singapore and Bangkok will bring international tourists to Da Nang City next Sunday, officially resuming international routes after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

To date nine airlines have reopened 10 direct international air routes to Da Nang City. According to the municipal Department of Tourism, there will be more routes from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Bangkok (Thailand), Singapore, and Incheon (South Korea) to Da Nang in April.

Vietjet Air also plans to open a new air route connecting Da Nang and New Delhi (India) in September.

Nguyen Duc Cuong, General Manager of the Vanda Hotel in Da Nang, said tourism businesses are prepared to welcome international tourists back.

“Vanda Hotel mostly serve the international market. We began to prepare for receiving foreign tourists again two months ago. Currently we mainly serve domestic tourists. As soon as Vietnam resumes international air routes, we’ll have the next plans to approach our target markets with first focus on the East Asian and Southeast Asian markets,” said Cuong.

Many tourist events will be organized throughout the year in Da Nang, especially this summer. A hot air balloon performances will be opened this month at Bach Dang Street.

The Asia Route Development Forum 2022 scheduled for June will attract airlines, airports, tour operators, and aviation businesses in the region and the world.

A sailing competition on Han River, the Asia Development Golf Tournament, and Da Nang International Marathon will be held.

There will be art and culture activities themed "Han River Dance" held every Sunday night.

Da Nang People's Committee has issued a plan to resume tourism under new normal conditions with the message "Da Nang is ready to open and welcome tourists".
