After piloting the service for 15 months, the department recorded 300,000 people signing up to rent public bicycles, 473,000 trips made using the service or 1,100 trips per day, 43 bike rental spots, and 500 public bicycles in the central area.

Ho Chi Minh City was the first locality in Vietnam to pilot a public bicycle rental service, which aimed to give its people another choice for means of transportation, increase public transportation’s effectiveness, and reduce demands for private transport.

The city will add public bicycle parking spaces in shopping malls, schools, and apartment buildings.
