Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said: "Ho Chi Minh City is implementing the master plan, in which the Saigon River is identified as one of the highlights for comprehensive economic and cultural development. Tourism will be a major sector in the city’s development plan to exploit the potential and economic, tourism, and cultural values of the city’s rivers and canals”

The Festival will feature 22 cultural, sports, entertainment, and culinary events, with the highlight to be the opening ceremony on May 31 at Sai Gon port, Nha Rong Wharf.
