(VOVworld) – 350 Vietnamese and foreign delegates attended a forum called DELTAS2013VIETNAM: World Deltas Dialogues II, in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday. High on the agenda were solutions to challenges facing Vietnam and its delta, as well as major deltas and watersheds worldwide. Participants shared experiences in climate change response and management. They also discussed the role of the Mekong delta in economic development and ecological balance, measures to live with floods in the region and Vietnam’s coastal areas and flood-tide adaptation in Ho Chi Minh city. The Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Nguyen Thai Lai, said that the Vietnamese government has approved and implemented related strategies and programs, while hoping to boost international cooperation in addressing this matter. The event, which concluded on Tuesday, was organized by Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Viet Nam National University in Ho Chi Minh city America’s Wetland Foundation and the Netherlands.
