(VOV/VOVworld)- A 9-km overpass linking North Linh Dam peninsula with Mai Dich area in the capital city opened to traffic on Sunday after 2 years of construction. This is one of Hanoi’s most important routes as it connects 3 main traffic routes – Highways 1, 5 and the Thang Long Avenue. Costing more than 250 million USD worth of Japan’s ODA and the Vietnamese government’s counter capital, the 4-lane overpass will help reduce traffic congestion and accidents in Hanoi. In his address, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the completion of the road symbolized the fine cooperation between Vietnam and Japan. “The overpass contributes to enhancing the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Japan. The corridor No 3 in Hanoi plays an important role in connecting internal and inter-regional traffic routes and helps the city to boost its development in the west and southwest. This road will definitely contribute to the city’s socio economic development and reducing traffic congestion and accidents”, said Mr. Phuc.
