Hanoi welcomes record number of Lunar New Year visitors

(VOVWORLD) - Hanoi welcomed 1.34 million tourists during the nine-day 2026 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday (February 14-22), up 36.3% from the same period last year, marking the highest number ever recorded for Tet.

Total tourism revenue is estimated at 187 million USD, an increase of more than 40% compared with 2025, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.

International visitors totaled an estimated 217,000, up 55%, with the largest markets including China, South Korea, India, France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Taiwan (China), Germany, the Philippines, and Australia.

The city offered free entry to 17 cultural and historical sites from the 4th to the 6th day of the lunar new year (February 20-22). The initiative helped create a lively holiday atmosphere and received positive feedback from both residents and visitors.
