(VOVworld) - The fourth Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF), themed “Cinema-Integration and Sustainable Development”, opened on Tuesday in Hanoi. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and representatives of departments and agencies as well as film directors and actors attended the opening ceremony. The five-day festival will feature 146 films from 43 countries and territories including the US, Britain, France, India, and Japan.

Vietnamese cinema is represented in every category with 29 films, including two full-length films, 10 shorts, and 17 films shown as part of the programs of Feature Films in World Panaroma, Vietnamese Contemporary Films, and ASEAN Films. Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien said: “More new categories have been added at this year’s film festival. This is an opportunity for Vietnam and foreign actors and film makers to share their experience. The festival also helps promote the image and culture of Vietnam to the world”.
