The September 12 fire at a mini apartment building has claimed a total of 56 lives to date.

All State agencies located in the city will observe a moment of silence at 8 o’clock on Monday in commemoration of dead victims.

The midnight fire that broke out at around 23:00 on Tuesday at a mini apartment building in Thanh Xuan District killed a total of 56 people and injured 37 others.

The police detained 44-year-old Nghiem Quang Minh, the owner of the building, for questioning over violations of fire prevention rules.

The municipal administration and local agencies provided material assistance to families of the bereaved and the injured.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong sent condolences to the bereaved families and asked Hanoi to draw lessons from the disaster.

Currently 36 injured people are receiving treatment and extensive care at five hospitals. Among them, six are in critical condition.
