Hanoi gears up for 80th National Day celebrations

(VOVWORLD) - Preparations are in full swing for the upcoming celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

At a working session with the Party Central Committee's Commission for Communication, Education and Mass Mobilization on Thursday, Hanoi authorities said they has completed plans for stage decoration, crowd mobilization, logistics, medical support, security, and environmental sanitation for the anniversary ceremony, military parade, and public marches to be held at Ba Dinh Square on September 2.

Hanoi will open a display space at the National Exhibition Center from August 28 to September 5, and an exhibition at 48 Hang Ngang Street to showcase One Commune One Product items and cultural and tourism heritages of the capital. It will hang flags and banners, install decorative lighting, and set up more than 280 public screens for people to view the events.

Two special art programs will be held at the August Revolution Square and the National Exhibition Center. There will also be local art performances and film screenings in remote areas. Fireworks will be set off at five locations on the evening of September 2.

Hanoi will also deliver gifts to revolutionary contributors and organize meetings with war veterans and families of martyrs, and construction and repair of “gratitude houses”.

Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Communication, Education, and Mass Mobilization Nguyen Trong Nghia said the anniversary celebration is a festival of unity for all 54 ethnic groups, symbolizing national solidarity.
