At a meeting of the Hanoi Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control on Sunday, Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said that as a large number of Koreans are living in Hanoi, control should be tightened especially on those who have traveled from the Republic of Korea’s hotspots of Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk.
He asked local police forces and management boards of residential apartments to check whether their areas have people coming from countries affected by the epidemic or not and hotels to record itineraries of tourists.
Chairman Chung called on people to be proactive in dealing with the epidemic, not to be complacent and not to panic. He urged thorough preparations for schools to reopen, saying all classrooms must have thermometers, records of students’ body temperatures, and sanitizers. Mr. Chung called on Hanoiains to refrain from visiting bars and karaoke to avoid being contracted the novel coronavirus.
