(VOVworld) – The 5-year expansion of Hanoi’s administrative boundary was reviewed at a conference in Hanoi on Wednesday.

(VOVworld) – The 5-year expansion of Hanoi’s administrative boundary was reviewed at a conference in Hanoi on Wednesday. Present were Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and more than 2,000 delegates representing Hanoi cadres, party members and people.

Chairman Hung said Hanoi has made great contributions to national achievements by implementing the National Assembly resolution on Hanoi administrative boundary expansion over the last 5 years. He asked the capital city to focus on sustainable and effective economic development while increasing competitiveness and ensuring social welfare. The municipal Party committee, administration and people are required to build Hanoi into a big cultural center of Vietnam imbued with national identity. Hanoi is also tasked with reforming the Party leadership methods and building its stronger Party and administration: “It is necessary to perform well communications and education work so that Party members and the people are united and determined to successfully carry out tasks of developing the capital city in the new period. In addition, Hanoi should ensure social welfare and uphold its role as a major economic hub and an economic momentum of the northern delta region and the whole country. Hanoi should be a center of high tech industries and high quality services”.

Hanoi’s economy has grown over the past 5 years with its GDP accounting for 10% of the country. The city’s income per capita in 2012 reached 2,257 UDS, 1.3 fold higher than that of 2008.
