(VOVWORLD) -The first Congress of Hai Phong City Party Committee sets the goal of building Hai Phong into a modern, civilized, ecological and livable industrial seaport city of Southeast Asia by 2030.

The Political Report at the Congress for 2025-2030 tenure, which opened on Saturday, highlighted the results of the current term of the Party Committee of the extended Hai Phong City after the merger of Hai Duong province and Hai Phong City.

According to the Political Report, Hai Phong must pioneer in industrialization, modernization, digital transformation, green transformation and innovation, become Vietnam’s leading center of marine economy, high-quality tourism, services-logistics and clean energy with GRDP growth from 2026 to 2030 reaching an average of 13% per year or more.

In his address at the Congress, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said, “Efforts should be made to build Hai Phong according to the 12-word motto "Solidarity-Prosperity-Modernity-Prosperity-Civilization-Happiness." It must soon become a socialist city, which is harmonious, bright, green, clean, beautiful, and livable.”

The Congress announced the Politburo's Decision on appointing Mr. Le Tien Chau as Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee for 2025-2030 tenure.
