Earning a green certificate will increase their competitiveness when exporting. This was the message of a seminar in Hanoi on Wednesday on green energy for businesses.
Vietnam is speeding up plans for energy transition and encouraging the development of renewable energy amid the urgent need for emission reduction in manufacturing and integration.
Targets have been set in the National Power Development Plan until 2030 with a vision to 2050, known as PDP8, said Hoang Quang Phong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Under PDP8, rooftop solar power is prioritized for small-scale production so businesses will not limit its capacity, so it’s necessary to create a breakthrough policy for development with reasonable prices and the possibility of taking advantage of the available power grid, said Phong.
He went on, “Only a few garment exporters have chosen to buy rooftop solar power using foreign investment funds. Without a specific legal framework and necessary and sufficient conditions for the development of the industry, there must be a total solution package and other investment conditions to get businesses to make a greater investment.”
