The exhibition called “The Great Inca Trail” is comprised of 28 photos featuring techniques used by the ancient Incas to build roads. Some of those sections are preserved and are currently in operation. The exhibition introduces Peru’s splendorous natural landscapes, unique cultural features, and formation history.
Recognized as a UNESCO’s Heritage of Humanity in 2014, the Inca Trail is the most extensive and advanced road system built during the Inca Empire and runs through territories of other South American countries such as Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, and Ecuador.
The ancient transportation system of the Inca Empire (Tahuantinsuyo Empire) stretched over 60 thousand km, including nearly 23 thousand km in Peru.
