In his speech, Party General Secretary To Lam, who is also Secretary of the Central Military Commission, reviewed the Vietnam People’s Army’s historic milestones, from the founding of the Vietnam Propaganda Unit of Liberation in 1944 to the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, which culminated in national reunification in 1975, ushering Vietnam into a new era of peace, independence, and progress toward socialism.

"The Vietnam People’s Army has been serving as a core force, alongside the Party and the people, in protecting national independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, the Party, the administration, the people, and the socialist regime. The army has safeguarded the renewal process and sustained a peaceful environment conducive to development, contributing to regional and global peace and stability," said Mr. Lam.

The Party leader emphasized that the commemoration of the Vietnam People’s Army is an occasion to honor Vietnam’s glorious tradition and national unity and reaffirm Vietnam’s commitment to peace and independence.

"With its ultimate goal of building a peaceful, civilized, and prosperous nation, and a peaceful world in which people enjoy independence, freedom, and happiness, Vietnam pursues a consistent policy of resolving disputes and disagreements through peaceful means on the basis of international law, and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries.” said Party leader Lam.

Vietnam does not participate in military alliances, does not side with one country against another, does not host foreign military bases or use Vietnamese territory to oppose other countries, and does not use force or threaten to use force in international relations, he noted.
