Government proposes continued value-added tax cut

(VOVWORLD) -The continued reduction of value-added tax aims to contribute to economic development, support people and businesses, bolster production and business activities, tourism and domestic consumption this year and next year, Deputy Minister of Finance Cao Anh Tuan said on Wednesday.

Mr. Tuan made the proposal at the 44th session of the National Assembly Standing Committee, which discussed the Assembly’s draft Resolution on cutting value-added tax for the last half of 2025 and the whole year of 2026.

According to the proposal, the value added tax rate will be reduced by 2% to 8% for groups of goods and services currently subject to a tax rate of 10%, except for telecommunications, financial and banking activities, securities, insurance, and real estate business. The application period is from July 1 this year to the end of next year.

At Wednesday session, the National Assembly Standing Committee agreed with the Government's proposal to promote production and business and requested the Government to make the dossier more persuasiveness so as to submit it to the National Assembly for decision at the upcoming May session.
