Global COVID-19 deaths surpass 119.2 million, cases surge in Cambodia

(VOVWORLD) - More than 119.2 million people have so far been infected with the novel coronavirus globally, with the deaths passing 2.64 million.

The US has recorded nearly 30 million cases and about 530,000 deaths, the highest figures in the world. It is followed by India.

South Korea's daily new coronavirus cases reached the highest in 22 days on Saturday, remaining above 400 for the fifth consecutive day. South Korea is planning to extend its current social distancing measures for another two weeks.

The pandemic situation remains complicated in Cambodia as on Friday, the country confirmed 62 new COVID-19 infections. Earlier, Cambodia approved a law on preventing COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in France has surpassed 90,000. The number of people with COVID-19 in intensive care units in France increased to more than 4,000 on Friday, health ministry data showed, exceeding 4,000 for the first time since November 26, at the end of the second nationwide lockdown.
