Germany, France emphasize strong ties between EU’s two biggest powers

(VOVWORLD) -French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Germany on Sunday, beginning a three-day state visit, the first by a French head of state in 24 years, aiming to emphasize the strong relationship between the EU’s two leading economies.

President Macron was welcomed by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at Bellevue Palace in Berlin on Sunday evening. As planed, the two presidents will go to Dresden, where Macron will give a speech on Monday, before leaving for Muenster on Tuesday.

On Tuesday afternoon, the French President will have a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at a government guest house on the outskirts of Berlin, where two sides will find common ground on two main issues that they must reach agreement on, which are defense capacity and competitiveness.
