(VOVworld) – A journalist with al-Jazeera was detained in Germany on Saturday on an Egyptian arrest warrant, said German officials. Martin Steltner, a spokesman for the Berlin state prosecutor said British-Egyptian journalist Ahmed Mansour was being held by the police. Doha-based al-Jazeera confirmed the arrest on its website, saying an Egyptian court convicted and sentenced Mansour in absentia on charges of torturing a lawyer in Cairo's Tahrir Square during the uprising against President Hosni Mubarak in 2011. He was sentenced to 15 years.
