(VOVworld) – German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov met in Ekaterinburg on Sunday to discuss the failed terror attack in Crimea and the worsening situation in Syria.

Speaking on the eve of the official meeting on Monday, Lavrov said Russia has prioritized its relationship with Germany but the bilateral ties is experiencing a difficult period which is not due to Moscow’s fault. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the two ministers discussed bilateral cooperation in the political, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian areas. They also exchanged views on key international problems, including the implementation of the Minsk Agreements to settle the Ukrainian crisis and advance the peace process in Syria, European security issues, and the fight against international terrorism.
