(VOVWORLD) -India is one of Vietnam's leading Comprehensive Strategic Partners in the region, Party General Secretary To Lam said, adding that the two countries have high political trust, similar strategic interests and a long-standing foundation of cultural and national exchanges and ties.

At a reception for Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Sandeep Arya on Wednesday in Hanoi, the General Secretary applauded the positive and effective development of the relationship between the two countries. He asked the Indian Ambassador to pay attention to boosting bilateral cooperation, especially economic connectivity, soon raise two-way trade turnover to 20 billion USD, and expand cooperation in science and technology, innovation, culture, education, religion, and tourism.

Ambassador Sandeep Arya congratulated Vietnam on its 80th anniversary of National Day and shared the opinion of General Secretary To Lam. He said he will continue to closely coordinate with ministries, sectors, and localities of Vietnam to deepen cooperation between the two countries.
