(VOVworld) – A seminar to collect opinions on the revised Law on Environmental Protection opened in Hanoi on Monday. Participants agreed that after being in place for 7 years, the law has helped to prevent negative impacts on the environment. However, they said, the law needs to be updated to meet requirements for a new phase of development. The seminar also discussed the responsibility and rights of local departments of natural resources and environment.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is drafting revisions to the Law, which will then be submitted to the National Assembly for consideration. Revisions will include items on the protection of land, plans for environmental protection, information and reports on the environment and the incorporation of environmental protection with climate change adaptation.
