G7 Summit opens in Hiroshima

(VOVWORLD) - The G7 summit hosted by Japan, this year's G7 President, opened in Hiroshima, on Friday.

Containing China's influence and controlling the Russia-Ukraine conflict are two of the major topics being discussed at the meeting. A G7 joint statement is expected to contain a pledge to make every effort to restore peace in the region.

Other hot global issues being discussed are artificial intelligence technology, crypto currencies, restructuring supply chains, and promoting clean energy.

This year, the leaders of Australia, Brazil, the Comoros, the Cook Islands, India, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, and Vietnam were invited, as Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida stressed the importance of reaching out to developing countries in the Southern Hemisphere.
