The biggest takeaway of the declaration was that all 83 paras in the declaration were passed unanimously with a 100 per cent consensus of 21 members.

For the first time in the G20 history, the declaration contained no footnote or Chair’s Summary.

Also, the declaration being the most ambitious, contained 112 outcomes - both the outcomes and annexed documents - which is two-and-a-half- times more than any other.

The declaration signifies a major win for India, which holds this year’s G20 presidency.

The declaration cited the UN charter, saying all states must refrain from the threat or use of force to seek territorial acquisition against the territorial integrity and sovereignty or political independence of any state. The use or threat of use of nuclear weapons is inadmissible.

According to the joint statement, the G20 pledged to strengthen the reforms of Multilateral Development Banks, accept proposals for stricter regulations on cryptocurrencies, and call for accelerated efforts towards reducing coal power.
