South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin, who took office in May, held his first tripartite meeting with his US and Japanese counterparts, Antony Blinken and Yoshimasa Hayashi, on the resort island of Bali, on the sideline of the G20 meeting.
The three ministers agreed to make efforts to bring a united, firm response from the global community against North Korea's provocation and closely coordinate based on a flexible, open diplomatic approach to bring Pyongyang back to dialogue, according to a statement of the South Korean Foreign Ministry.
The foreign ministers also discussed measures to expand security cooperation between the three countries, and reaffirmed the importance of trilateral cooperation to address regional and global challenges.
