(VOVworld) - French president Francois Hollande said on Wednesday he had decided to increase the military budget by 3.8 billion euros between now and 2019 to allow troops to fulfill their anti-terror mission.

President Hollande said that he will maintain the 7,000 troops currently deployed on French soil to patrol in airports, train stations and other sensitive sites. Speaking after a defense council meeting, Hollande said that the budget increase will not only to ensure security in France but also the troops carrying out mission abroad. Following attacks in Paris in January, the government raised the security alert to its highest level.
