He said it is time for France and Germany to stand together to build a modern, effective, and democratic Europe, adding that Europe must be more autonomous and powerful “not to allow the world to slide into chaos”.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she totally agrees with President Macron that Europe is unstable and reiterated her support for Mr. Macron’s idea of a European army, calling it a symbol of unity.
