(VOVworld) – Vietnam was elected as member of the UN Human Rights Council, opening a new page for the country’s international prestige and responsibility. Martine Anstett, Deputy Director for Democracy, Human Rights and Rule of Law of the International Organization of La Francophonie was speaking in an interview with VOV’s correspondent in France: “Vietnam being elected to the UN Human Rights Council is an important event. This is the world’s highest inter-governmental agency in human rights issue. Vietnam is a dynamic country in many fields, including economics and education, and has scored a number of achievements. Moreover, Vietnam representing ASEAN and the International Organization of La Francophonie to run as a candidate for the election has had some benefits back. The organization strongly supports Vietnam’s candidacy and always accompanies Vietnam in deploying its commitments during its term as a Council member.”

Madam Anstett expressed her belief that Vietnam would continue to make ceaseless efforts in the area of human rights.
