Speaking at a conference of 20 European leaders in Paris to discuss speeding up the supply of weapons and financial aid to Ukraine, Macron said Western countries must do everything needed to prevent Russia from winning the conflict because Europe’s own security is at stake. Macron said sending Western troops to Ukraine should not be ruled out.
Ahead of the conference, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz strongly opposed supplying Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine, citing the risk of drawing Germany into the conflict.
