The US’s National Public Radio reported that Vietnam’s success came from the government’s early, drastic social distancing policy, aided by the country’s experience dealing with previous epidemics.
The US’s Strategist newspaper attributed the fact that Vietnam has no COVID-19 deaths and just 268 confirmed cases so far to careful and extensive monitoring of public travel, regular temperature checking at airports and border gates, and good management of quarantine areas.
According to the newspaper, the key to Vietnam’s strategy has been responding quickly to minimize infections and the burden on medical facilities.
The Nikkei Asian Review said that Vietnam's measures against COVID-19 have benefited the entire community.
The East Asia Forum said that overcoming difficulties caused by the epidemic, Vietnam’s voice will carry more weight regionally and globally.
Bloomberg reported that Vietnam has donated 250,000 medical face masks to the US, face masks and medical supplies worth 100,000 USD to Japan. It has also presented medical supplies to Cambodia, Laos, and several European countries.
Russia’s Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported Vietnam’s donation of 200,000 face masks to Russia.
