The Financial Times and Weforum posted articles highlighting Vietnam’s low number of cases and lack of fatalities. The articles said Vietnam aggressively identified the risks and effectively mobilized all resources to contain the pandemic. The Financial Times said Vietnam has been a role model in containing the disease with limited resources but determined leadership.
Deutsche Welle analyzed Vietnam’s strong points and acknowledged the important role Vietnam’s army and political system have played in the fight against Covid-19. Deutsche Welle said Vietnamese patriotism and national pride provided strong motivation to beat the pandemic.
EFE quoted Park Kidong, a WHO official in Hanoi, as saying that “investment during peacetime,” “early activation of a response system”, and “a whole-of-society approach under strong leadership” can be highlighted as reasons for Vietnam’s success so far.
The UAE’s Al-Arabiya and the Moroccan website Hespress praised the Vietnamese government’s efforts against Covid-19. Al-Arabiya noted that the Vietnamese government has received both praise and cooperation from its citizens. Hespress said Vietnam has delivered to its citizens daily clear and transparent information about the pandemic and the government’s response measures.
Several Indonesian newspapers commented on the effectiveness of Vietnam’s fight against Covid-19. They said Vietnam has done well in pandemic prevention and control – even better than countries like Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia. They praised Vietnam’s leadership in dealing with the crisis.
