Addressing the 3-day meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh praised young Vietnamese intellectuals for their efforts and creativity in keeping up with their peers around the world.
Mr. Binh said he hopes the forum attendees will share their experience and recommend policies to the Party and government in the context of Industry 4.0. The forum is a venue for young intellectuals to discuss visions, missions, and roles for national construction and development and Vietnam’s international integration, and an opportunity to suggest mechanisms for the government to attain national development goals.
Le Quoc Phong, first Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, said: “Young intellectuals are a resource in need of care, encouragement, and most importantly, favorable conditions for them to grow and contribute their wisdom. Every young Vietnamese intellectual at the forum represent the young intellectuals in the career field and locality in which they work. Good professional knowledge, creativity, integration capacity, and national spirit are the strengths of Vietnamese intellectuals.”
The focus of VYI Forum this year is on boosting science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to develop high-quality human resources, applying the technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution to environmental protection and climate change response, and promoting innovation in production.
