PM Chinh said Vietnam has many female heroes in labor, combat, and production, especially former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh.
The Prime Minister asked the diplomats to continue contributing their talent and grit to maintaining a peaceful and cooperative environment and achieving the goals of every country.
UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam Pauline Tamesis said Vietnamese women have contributed significantly to making Vietnam a bright spot for peace and progress. She said she hopes more and more women will take on leadership roles in government at all levels and in the diplomatic sector in particular, toward equitable and sustainable development.
Vietnam is one of the 10 countries that best implemented the United Nations' sustainable development goal of promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
The current percentage of female deputies in Vietnam’s 15th National Assembly –30.26% – is higher than the world and regional average and ranks first in the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Vietnam, with 16% of its peacekeepers women, is one of the leading countries in female participation in peacekeeping activities.
