FBI thwarts bombing plot at Mid-Continent airport

(VOVworld) – The Federal Bureau of Investigation has announced that 58-year suspect, Terry Loewen, an avionics technician, was arrested Friday attempting to access Wichita’s Mid-Continent Airport tarmac and explode a car bomb.

(VOVworld) – The Federal Bureau of Investigation has announced that 58-year suspect, Terry Loewen, an avionics technician, was arrested Friday attempting to access Wichita’s Mid-Continent Airport tarmac and explode a car bomb. Barry Grissom, U.S. Attorney for Kansas, says:

“The man will face three federal charges: attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction against people and property within the United States, attempting to damage or destroy by means of an explosive, and providing material support and resources to a foreign terrorist organization. If convicted, he will face life in prison.”

Wichita resident Terry Lee Loewen had been under investigation since this past summer. He admitted being a Muslim and in a letter to his family, Terry said he would conduct a terrorist act of jihad against the United States on behalf of the terrorist group of al-Qeada.

On the same day, a gun fire took place in Arapahoe High School in Colorado killing at least 2 pupils. The gunman who was also a school pupil then killed himself. The identity of the gunman and the reason behind the incident are under investigation.
