Fansipan peak is covered in frost as temperatures plunge to zero (baolaocai.vn)

According to details provided by the Lao Cai Hydrometeorological Station, the natural phenomenon is usually caused by extreme cold spell, which has spread throughout Vietnam's northern and north-central regions in recent days.

The station noted that when the sun came up and increased the temperature, the frost layer gradually melted away.

It's likely that temperature will continue to drop from Tuesday, and frost will continue to appear at the peak of Fansipan, it added.
