(VOVworld) – 25 paintings of monkeys are on display at an exhibition to welcome the Year of Monkey 2016. The paintings vary in style, size and materials, but all the monkeys appear to be smart, clever, and funny.

The monkeys in paintings by Nguyen Nghia Cuong represent love and longevity. Nguyen Quoc Thang uses black and white colors and Dó or poonah paper to paint monkeys in serious and thoughtful poses. Painter Nguyen Hong Phuong talked about his paintings: “The monkey in my paintings is very clever and naughty. I painted this monkey with one eye closed and the other open to convey the message that you should not look at life too cautiously. We should all take it easy”.
