EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton has urged Israel to cancel plans to build 3,000 new settlement houses in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Ashton said on Sunday that the European Union has repeatedly stated that all settlement construction is illegal under international law. She added the Israeli government should honor its commitment at recent negotiations to end its conflict with Palestine.
