Following Israel's allegations against UNRWA in late January, the UN agency immediately fired the staff members in question and requested a swift, impartial investigation.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres announced the creation of an independent panel to assess the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), led by former French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna.
Many countries, including Sweden, Canada, Japan, the EU, and France, have resumed funding, while others, including the United States and the UK, have not.
The UN has repeatedly warned that cutting aid to UNRWA will worsen the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
According to the UN, 2.3 million residents of Gaza lack food, clean water, medicine, and adequate shelter.
