British Prime Minister David Cameron asked EU leaders to help him settle the question by agreeing a "credible" deal he can sell to the British public and stay in the EU.

Cameron said “the question of Britain’s place in Europe has been allowed to fester for too long and it’s time to deal with it”. He said that he hopes a deal can be struck in Brussels on Friday, the final day of the summit, so he can press ahead with a referendum on Britain’s EU future in June.

Cameron has told EU leaders he will not accept any deal that is not “credible” to voters at home.
