(VOVworld) – European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso announced Wednesday the setting up of a ‘Support Group’ for Ukraine led by Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Commissioner Stefan Fuler. The group will be based in Brussels and will send its staff to Ukraine if necessary. The group aims to provide infrastructure advice, a general outlook, and policies by which the EC can implement its support for Kiev. The group will help coordinate work with member states, donors and the International Financing Institutions regarding Ukrainian issues. Until the end of 2014, the Support Group will identify and coordinate with the Ukrainian authorities the technical assistance they need to stabilize the situation.
