(VOVworld)—The United Nations Security Council is to vote on increasing the number of African Union's peacekeeping force in Somalia by more than 5000 soldiers. According to this resolution, the African Union force in Somalia extended from 12,000 to about 17,700 troops. The Council’s vote takes place just right before an international conference on Somalia's future to be held in London. Speaking to the press, UK Prime Minister David said that Somalia still has to face with the threat of Al-Shabab militant group which has close links with al-Qaida. The recent violence in Somalia has cost 1,5 million people leave their home. Peacekeepers recently pushed al-Shabab militants out of the capital Mogadishu.
