(VOVworld) – The European Parliament on Thursday considered a draft resolution on the situation in Ukraine. The document proposes the establishment of a permanent EU mission in Ukraine and imposes penalties on a number of Ukrainian politicians considered responsible for the deaths of demonstrators.

The EP called on other European countries to impose similar punishments on Ukraine including economic sanctions.

The EU advised President Viktor Yanukovych to free arrested demonstrators and political prisoners including former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and set up an independent human rights investigation committee under the auspices sponsorship of internationally recognized agencies.
