(VOVworld) - The European Union on Tuesday called on the Syrian government and its allies for the extension of the “humanitarian pause” in Aleppo.

A joint statement was also published by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, and the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Christos Stylianides. The EU requested all parties to demonstrate unequivocally a genuine commitment to allowing humanitarian aid operations to address the safety of Syrian civilians. All parties to the conflict must stop the shelling of civilian areas and medical structures in Aleppo. The EU emphasized once again that there is no military solution to the Syrian civil war.
