The action plan was adopted at the two-day EU-Africa Summit in Valleta, Malta. European Council President Donald Tusk said the plan focuses on resolving the major cause of the migrant problem, fighting against human trafficking groups, and enhancing cooperation between countries on legal migration and protecting refugees. The EU will provide 1.8 billion euro to help Africa deal with the flood of migrants to Europe. The EU and Africa will organize an investigation in Nigeria to uncover illegal migrant trafficking, then duplicate this model in other countries. The Summit agreed on 15 initiatives, including setting up an information center in countries through which migrants transit to inform the migrants about the risks they run if they follow human trafficking rings.
