(VOVworld) - Arab League foreign ministers meet on Sunday in Cairo to discuss their next move over the Syrian crisis.

An official of the Arab League said the ministers will consider to send a group of AL and UN observers to Syria to monitor President Bashar al-Assad’s commitment to stop violence. However, it seems Syria will not allow observers to its country. The official also said the ministers may discuss formally recognizing the main opposition Syrian National Council in a show of support.

Meanwhile, Syria has continued to experience escalating violence. A military general was killed by gunmen in a Damascus ambush on Saturday, following a bombing in Aleppo city killing over 230 people on Friday.
