(VOVWORLD) - The European Parliament has urged the European Commission to raise investment in the bloc's defense and introduce breakthrough initiatives and wartime-like emergency measures.

In a newly adopted resolution, the EP warned that the EU’s security and defense objectives would be unattainable without a substantial increase in defense funding. It called for “innovative solutions” to secure additional resources, including from European defense bonds.
The EP proposed that most EU defense decisions should be adopted by a majority vote rather than the current rule of unanimous consent.
