(VOVWORLD) - Kamal Malhotra, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Vietnam, was conferred "For the cause of natural resources and environment" insignia at a ceremony on Friday.

Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha said that as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Vietnam, Mr. Malhotra has actively promoted the UN agenda to help Vietnam respond more effectively to climate change and natural disasters, as well as sustainable management of natural resources and the environment through the Joint Strategic Plan from 2017 to 2021 between the Government of Vietnam and the UN in Vietnam.

Currently, the UN has been working with the government agencies, including the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, to make joint efforts to respond to climate change, focusing on the Blueprint for Vietnam's implementation of the Paris Agreement, particularly the Nationally Determined Contributions.
