(VOVworld) - Egypt's state-run television station reported on Monday that the trial of the deposed President Mohamed Morsi opened as scheduled but just minutes later, judges announced a delay due to the defendants' chants. Experts and analysts raised their concerns over a possible new wave of violence erupting across Egypt triggered by the incident.

Egypt was put on high alert ahead of the trial. 20,000 police were dispatched to surround the court. Earlier, thousands of Morsi supporters protested across Egypt.

The Muslim Brotherhood warned of continued protests to pose pressure on the army, demanding Morsi’s reinstatement.
