In a televised speech early this month, Mansour said Egypt is going through a critical stage and some wanted Egyptians to move towards a path of chaos bloodshed, therefore the government would fight for security and its revolutionary achievements. He added that there would be no factional discrimination during the period of comprehensive national reconciliation following the overthrown of President Mohamed Morsi.

Mansour’s promise comes during a period when both the Muslim Brotherhood, which backs Morsi, and Tamarod, which has been behind Morsi’s ousting by the army, called for massive protests across Egypt on Friday. The security forces have been well-prepared to respond to any protests.
