Egypt evacuates diplomats from Libya

(VOVworld) - Egypt is considering the reduction of its diplomats working in Libya due to security reasons after recent abductions. Egypt's Foreign Ministry spokesman Badr Abdel-Atty said in a Saturday press release which affirmed that these are temporary solutions and will not affect the official relationship between Egypt and its neighboring country Libya.

Meanwhile, Egyptian Prime Minister Hazem El-Bablawy and Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy are discussing with their Libyan counterparts measures to ensure safety for the abducted diplomats. An Egyptian airplane has left the international airport of Tripoli with Egyptian embassy diplomats and their families.

Earlier, the Libyan Foreign Ministry announced that 4 Egyptian embassy staff members including a Cultural Attaché, had been abducted in the capital of Tripoli on Saturday. The incident took place after a diplomatic consultant of the Egyptian Embassy was kidnapped at his home on Friday. The kidnapping took place just hours after Shaaban Hadeia, head of the Operations Centre of Libya's Thuwar, had been captured at his home in the Egyptian city of Alexandria.
